Buy your very own piece of our very limited edition first run of our Waitaki tartan or tweed. We are working on the tartan design to accommodate the limitations of our c1895 designed rotating shuttle box, which hold six shuttles and therefore limits the number of colour changes we can make using our five chosen colours. We will begin weaving once we receive the yarn from Wild Earth Yarns, hopefully in November. The first warp of tartan will be about 200 metres long, while the tweed will be about 100 metres long.
The tartan will be woven using semi-worsted spun yarn, giving the fabric a clean, well defined pattern and design. The tweed will be woven using woollen spun yarn, giving the fabric a more dense, tweedy feel.
