Earlier this year we were approached by Lynley Browne, General Manager of Waitaki Whitestone Geopark, wondering if a piece of our Waitaki tartan could be included in an international weaving exhibition in Chile, named Weaving for Hope.
In September a metre of Waitaki tartan headed off to Chile for the International Conference of UNESCO Global Geoparks. The theme of this conference was From ancestral knowledge towards Future Geoparks - Technologies and digital innovation for sustainable development. Lynley attended this conference and took these images which she has kindly shared with us to show you.
We are delighted to have been able to be part of this international exhibition of traditional weaving, showcasing geological and cultural narratives of individual UNESCO communities.
All pieces of weaving are now in Paris, at the UNESCO Global Geoparks headquarters.
