Sunshine yellow and apple green lambswool bring joy and vibrancy to our Leven collection of scarves, little blankets and throws. Woven with South Island grown and processed lambswool the Leven collection includes stripes and a tartan, woven on our Hattersley tappet loom #1 which has a rotating shuttle box and really early, as in 1895 computer system that makes weaving stripes and tartan so much easier. Have a look at the photos below to see some of the production sequence.
We have a large bolt of the gorgeous tartan for you to buy by the metre to make up into something special for this autumn and winter. Coats and jackets are planned for this winter too, so keep an eye on our social media and the website, or sign up for a newsletter so you don't miss out.
Here you can see the warp thread being threaded through the metal heddles on the shafts to make the herringbone stripe and tartan. Tartans are usually woven in a diagonal twill but we thought we'd have a bit of fun with this one.
